"In peace I will both lie down and sleep; for You alone, O Lord, make me dwell in safety.” — Psalm 4:8
There is something sacred about nighttime. The world grows quiet, distractions fade, and we are left alone with our thoughts. Sometimes that quiet brings peace. Other times it brings worry.
But Psalm 4:8 reminds us of something powerful — peace is not found in perfect circumstances. It is found in a Person.
David wrote these words during a time of distress. Enemies surrounded him. Pressure weighed on him. Yet he declared, “In peace I will lie down.” Not because everything was fixed, but because God was faithful.
Tonight, you may have unanswered prayers. You may be carrying responsibilities that feel heavy. You may not know how tomorrow will unfold. But you can rest.
Why?
Because the Lord is your safety.
Because God is working even while you sleep.
Because the One who watches over you never slumbers.
Let tonight be an act of trust. Lay down more than your body — lay down your burdens.
Father,
Thank you for not having to carry today into tomorrow. I release my worries, my fears, and my unfinished tasks into Your hands. Fill my room with Your peace. Guard my mind and renew my strength as I sleep. I trust You to watch over me.
In Jesus’ name,
Amen.🙏🏽
